Comrades from both Brighton branches of the Socialist Party, along with nearly a thousand others, attended the annual Socialism event in London on the 8 and 9 November. With sessions and discussions focusing on topical issues like nationalisation and the credit crunch to Obama's election win in the US, the weekend was an inspiring opportunity to raise the banner of socialism as a real alternative to what is on offer from the same three main parties of big business.
Claire Laker-Mansfield from the Brighton Wednesday branch said: "There were lots of interesting discussions and some inspiring speakers. I went to the session on the 1918 German revolution and it gave me an insight into a period of history that isn't widely known, even in the labour and trade union movement. We can all learn important lessons from it for the future".
