Join the Campaign for a 24 hour General Strike - Join the NSSN Lobby of the TUC - 2 days to go!

Only 2 days to go till the National Shop Stewards Network lobby of the Trade Union Congress in Brighton. It will start at 1pm at the Level and march along the seafront.

The lobby is calling for a 24 hour general strike against austerity in Britain. We feel this slogan needs to be raised at every stage in the struggle, and it needs to be raised at the October 20th TUC demonstration in London.

The list of attacks this government is making is long, as well as the pensions dispute the government is proposing below inflation pay rises - effectively a pay cut.

Privatisation is being rolled out in a number of workplaces, with London Met proposing to sell-off all but teaching and the vice-chancellor's office and now University of Sussex looking to follow suit.

The Health and Social Care Act having passed into law, will now accelerate the break-up and selling off of the NHS and to date 400,000 public sector jobs have been culled, with government planning to lose that number again.

The public sector battles are far from over, but one lesson has now been well learned: this fight cannot be won alone.

Co-ordinated mass action is the key to winning, but we have to fight to achieve this, just as we had to fight for November 30th.
